His Experience
Coach John has trained swimmers to some of the highest levels in USA Swimming in New England, including New England Seniors, Age Group Championships, as well as Silvers and Regionals Championships. He has also developed athletes who have made championship finals in high school state and sectional swim meets, as well as in town league championships.
USA Swimming & tOWN LEAGUE TEAM BACKGROUND
Coach John was the lead age group coach for Gator Swim Club’s 13-14-year-old high performance group. At MetroWest Aquatic Club, he was an age group coach for 13-and-older athletes. For the Weston Red Waves, he was the head coach of over 120 young athletes competing in the Winter Suburban League. Today, in addition to private coaching, Coach John leads a Masters training group and is a coach with the Concord Otters youth swim team.
Coach John is an avid open water swimmer and has completed Maine’s open-water triple crown: Peaks-to-Portland, Nubble Light Challenge, and Islesboro Crossing, among other races. He began swimming as an age group club team swimmer in Rhode Island and Virginia. Later, he helped contribute to a high school state championship and played water polo in college. In addition to his love of swim coaching, John is a biotechnology executive and brings his communications skills and a scientific approach to training athletes. Using the latest in technology and stroke research, Coach John teaches athletes the proper concepts for faster and more efficient swimming.
